SARMI, PAPUA — Amid challenging geography and limited access to healthcare in remote regions of Papua, Indonesia’s Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 is strengthening its commitment to reach every layer of society — including the elderly, often neglected and vulnerable.

On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, the task force conducted a home visit program, delivering medical services directly to the homes of elderly residents in Sarmi Regency, Papua Province.

The humanitarian initiative was led by IPDA Syahri Mahyudin, S.H., from the Public Relations Unit of the task force, alongside IPDA Dr. Chintya Widodo from the Health Sub-task Unit under the Support Task Force (Banops). The team visited two senior citizens to provide health examinations and direct medical treatment on-site.

The beneficiaries included:
• Ms. Anaci Wanewar (85 years old), resident of Sarmo Village, Sarmi Kota District.
• Ms. Salomina Senere (72 years old), resident of Tafarewar Village, Sarmi Kota District.

This effort highlights that the Indonesian National Police’s presence in Papua is not solely focused on security operations, but also deeply rooted in humanitarian outreach.

The Head of Peace Operation Cartenz 2025, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., accompanied by his Deputy, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., affirmed that the police are committed to being present as a force for both security and compassion in the community.

“Our presence is not limited to maintaining security, but also extends to delivering services that respond directly to community needs. This activity reflects our genuine concern and presence for all levels of society — especially the elderly,” said Brigadier General Faizal.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relation for Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., emphasized that humanitarian missions like this are a key part of the Indonesian National Police’s community engagement strategy in Papua.

“The police, through Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz, are here in Papua not only to enforce the law against armed criminal groups, but also to provide humanitarian services. This is a human-centered approach that ensures the public feels truly protected and served,” explained Chief Commissioner Yusuf.

The home visit program was warmly welcomed by the patients’ families and local residents. The task force reaffirmed its commitment to continuing such humanitarian missions across Papua, aiming to build a bond of trust and solidarity between the state and its citizens.
