Jayapura – Papua Police Chief, Inspector General Pol. Mathius D. Fakhiri, S.I.K, stated that negotiation efforts were still being carried out by the Regional Government (Pemda) with support from community and religious figures regarding the release of the Susi Air pilot who was being held hostage by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).

In his statement to journalists last Thursday (12/10), the Papua Police Chief explained that currently they are still waiting for developments in the results of the negotiation process. Regarding the technical details of the negotiations and the contents of the negotiations, the Papua Police Chief said that this was the domain of the Regional Government.

However, in principle, the Police hope and pray that these negotiation efforts can be successful and that the pilot can be returned safe and sound.

“I emphasize that the Government and TNI-Polri have agreed not to accommodate the wishes of the KKB regarding requests for independence as well as requests for weapons and ammunition,” he stressed.

This proves that they remain committed to maintaining pilot safety and avoiding casualties from the local government, TNI Polri and the communities involved.

“I hope that all parties will be patient and support our efforts here so that this problem can be resolved quickly. Law enforcement will continue to be enforced according to the rules,” added the Papua Police Chief.

The release of the Susi Air pilot who was held hostage by the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya has become a major concern, and all parties hope that this situation can be resolved peacefully and the pilot can return to his family safely.
