Internal conflict is shaking the TPNPB-OPM. Egianus Kogoya, long known as the leader of the Defense Command Area (Kodap) III Ndugama-Derakma, now faces a serious threat from within his own organization.
TPNPB-OPM spokesperson Sebby Sambom revealed that Egianus would be charged with betrayal in a special tribunal set to convene soon.
“He has damaged the authority of the National Command. The consequences are clear—he will face sanctions from the central headquarters,” Sebby stated on Wednesday (March 5, 2025).
Tensions within TPNPB-OPM have escalated following allegations that Egianus acted based on personal and family interests, which are considered contrary to the organization’s principles of struggle.
In a statement that further cemented Egianus’ downfall, Sebby confirmed that he is no longer trusted to lead Kodap III Ndugama-Derakma, a region that had long been under his command.
“We are fed up. Egianus has violated the core principles of our struggle. He will no longer lead the Defense Command Area,” Sebby said in a stern tone.
This move underscores that Egianus is no longer an untouchable figure within the TPNPB-OPM hierarchy. He was previously known as one of the most feared field commanders, particularly for his role in a series of attacks against Indonesian security forces. However, this time, his status is on the brink.
Sebby emphasized that many other fighters are more deserving of leading Kodap III Ndugama-Derakma. He even described Egianus’ actions as a betrayal that tarnished the organization’s struggle.
“We can no longer trust him. He has compromised with the enemy for his family’s sake. That alone is enough to disqualify him from this fight,” he concluded.
Although the special tribunal has yet to convene, Egianus’ expulsion appears to be only a matter of time. The tribunal is awaiting the readiness of the organizing committee.
This conflict highlights that even within TPNPB-OPM, strict enforcement of violations remains. Egianus, once revered, is now on the verge of being cast out by his own comrades.
