JAYAPURA CITY_ Deputy Chairman of the Cross-National Communication Forum (FKLN) in Papua Yonas Nussi said the sweeping action carried out by residents of the archipelago, Thursday night until Friday morning, was to protect the environment from actions carried out by a group of people suspected of committing criminal acts.
The action taken by them (archipelago residents) who are in several locations in Jayapura City is solely to protect their souls and places of business from various actions such as those that occurred in 2019.
“However, it still requests that residents do not take actions that can cause widespread impact,” said Yonas Nussi after attending a meeting with Pangdam XVII / Cenderawasih in Jayapura, Friday.
It is said, initially the people of the archipelago were safe when the procession of delivering the body of former Papua Governor Lukas Enembe took place, but after the arson action caused residents to immediately alert around the settlement.
No one was provoked by the issue because what the group did was just to protect themselves, their families and their homes and businesses.
“There is no pursuit of indigenous Papuans, if there is please report it because the various activities carried out are solely to protect the environment and family from anarchist action,” said Yonas Nussi.
Meanwhile, Pangdam XVII / Cenderawasih Major General Izak Pangemanan said the riots that occurred Thursday (28/12) in Jayapura City were masterminded by KNPB and ULMWP.
The group infiltrated the community and families who accompanied the body of former Papua Governor Lukas Enembe from STAKIN Sentani to his private residence located in Kota Tengah and tried to provoke.
There are those who want Papua to be chaotic, but this did not materialize because the TNI-Polri acted in a measured manner in accordance with applicable laws.
“The public is expected to remain calm because the TNI-Polri are trying to provide and realize a sense of security,” said Pangdam XVII / Cenderawasih Major General TNI Izak Pangemanan.*”
