After the KKB Attack, Papua Police Evacuate 50 Mining Workers
Jayapura – Papua Police stated that they had evacuated 50 mining workers who were victims of attacks by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB). Apart from that, seven bodies found dead were also evacuated.
The evacuation was carried out based on orders from the Papua Police Chief, Inspector General. Pol. Mathius D. Fakhiri. According to the Regional Police Chief, evacuation must be carried out to ensure the investigation process runs smoothly.
“We will also ask for information from several victims to find out the number of perpetrators and to understand the chronology of the attack,” explained the Regional Police Chief.
The Papua Regional Police Chief emphasized that the police will take firm action against all perpetrators involved in this attack, with the aim of ensuring that there are no similar disturbances in the upcoming election stages.
“We continue to work with community figures to advise citizens not to carry out activities that endanger themselves. Regarding the perpetrators, firm action will be taken to prevent similar incidents and ensure security in Papua in the context of the election process,” said the Papua Police Chief.
Meanwhile, during the evacuation process, security forces still faced the threat of gunfire from the KKB. However, the joint forces managed to ensure the safety of all workers who were evacuated safely back to headquarters.
