Jayapura- Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri strongly condemned the acts of violence that occurred in the Bintang Mountains, including blockades, arson, and actions that resulted in victims. He called these acts barbaric and inhumane.
Fakhiri emphasized the need for law enforcement against such acts. He stated that acts such as burning down schools, health centers, and hospitals must be faced with the law.
The Papua Police Chief is planning additional troops to the area to clear the KKB (Armed Criminal Group) of independence-motivated groups. The Inavis team will conduct investigations at the scene, while Brimob will be reinforced to ensure security.
Fakhiri emphasized that information about the KKB taking control of Oksibil City is untrue. He stated that the Bintang Mountains are still part of the Republic of Indonesia and are guarded by the TNI and POLRI.
The group calling itself KKB Kodap Bintang Timur is only trying to create the impression that they control the area with provocative actions and social media.
The Papua Police Chief emphasized that the goal of the TNI and Polri is to protect the community and create a sense of security in the area so that people do not feel threatened.
