Wamena – The 81st Anniversary (HUT) of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in 2026 is a momentum for the Papua Pegunungan Family Empowerment and Welfare (TP PKK) to encourage the involvement of women and children in various creative activities and character education.
Through a series of competitions involving children and the young generation, TP PKK Papua Pegunungan seeks to make the independence celebration not only a ceremonial activity, but also as a space to grow courage, creativity, unity, and love for the nation.
The head of TP PKK Papua Pegunungan, Anggieta Bestari Tabo, said that a number of activities held included fashion shows for participants at the PAUD-TK and SD levels as well as speech competitions for SMA/SMK students. The activity was attended by children and the younger generation from a number of schools in Jayawijaya Regency, which is the capital city of the Pegunungan Papua Province.
“We want to strengthen the role of women and children through fashion show activities at the PAUD-TK and SD level as well as speech competitions at the SMA/SMK level. This activity is also a means to instill the noble values of the Indonesian nation to the younger generation in the momentum of the 81st Independence Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Anggieta in Wamena, Wednesday.
According to him, the involvement of children in independence commemoration activities has an important value because it can give space for them to develop their potential from an early age. Meanwhile, for high school and vocational students, speech competitions can be a forum to practice the courage to express ideas as well as improve the ability to communicate in front of the public.
Anggieta explained that the anniversary of independence is not only interpreted as a momentum to remember the struggle of the heroes, but also as an opportunity to be grateful for the independence that has been enjoyed by the community until now.
“We must mean independence by strengthening unity and togetherness. Children and the young generation are an important part of continuing development, so they need to be given space to create, achieve, and grow the spirit of building the region and the nation,” he said.
He added, activities involving women and children are expected to strengthen self-confidence as well as grow the spirit of competing in a healthy way. Women are also encouraged to continue to take roles in various fields of development, while children are given the opportunity to develop their talents and potential.
The series of activities was attended by participants from various levels of education in the capital city of Papua Pegunungan. In addition to being part of the celebration of the 81st Independence Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, this activity is expected to strengthen the relationship between students, families, and the community through the spirit of togetherness.
TP PKK Papua Pegunungan hopes that the spirit of independence can continue to be passed on to the younger generation through positive and educational activities. By providing space for women and children to participate, the regional government together with the community is expected to build a generation of Papua Pegunungan that is confident, creative, has character, and has the spirit to contribute to the progress of the region and Indonesia.
