Jayapura – PT PLN continues to strengthen the reliability of the electricity system in Papua through the maintenance of the Orya Genyem Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA). This step was carried out as an effort to maintain the continuity of electricity supply for the community as well as ensuring that the new renewable energy-based (EBT) plants continue to operate optimally in supporting the electricity needs in the Jayapura System.
Maintenance activities are carried out by PT PLN Main Generation Unit (UIK) Dwipantara through the Papua and West Papua Generation Implementation Unit (UPK) together with PT PLN Nusantara Power. Maintenance is carried out thoroughly through a series of inspections and technical evaluations of the generating machine to ensure that all equipment is in top condition.
The manager of PLN UPK Papua and West Papua, Nova Ardyanto, said that PLTA Orya Genyem has a strategic role as one of the sources of clean energy generation that supplies electricity needs for the community in the Jayapura area and its surroundings.
“Orya Genyem PLTA is one of the new renewable energy-based power plants that has an important role in maintaining the continuity of electricity supply in the Jayapura System. Therefore, maintenance is carried out to ensure that the power plant remains reliable so that the community obtains optimal electricity services, especially ahead of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Nova in Jayapura, Friday.
According to him, periodic maintenance is part of the PLN strategy in maintaining the performance of the generator while minimizing potential disturbances that can affect the power supply to customers. Each stage of work begins with a thorough examination of the condition of the machine and generating equipment to identify the need for repair or replacement of components.
Nova explained, the entire maintenance process is carried out through synergy between work units in the PLN Group environment by prioritizing work safety standards, quality of implementation, and punctuality so that the plant can operate again to the maximum.
“All maintenance work is carried out through the collaboration of PLN Group by still prioritizing the aspects of work safety, work quality, and timely completion so that the reliability of the electrical system is maintained,” he said.
As one of the hydroelectric power plants in Papua, PLTA Orya Genyem contributes in supporting energy transition through the utilization of environmentally friendly energy sources. The existence of this power plant is also an important part in maintaining the stability of electricity supply while supporting economic growth and community activities in Papua.
Through periodic maintenance, PLN hopes that the reliability of the electricity system in Papua can continue to increase so that the community can obtain safe, stable, and sustainable electricity services. This step also confirms PLN’s commitment in presenting a reliable energy supply to support development and various community activities in Papua.
