Intan Jaya — A warm and communal atmosphere was evident during the stone burning tradition at Antioch Church, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, on Monday (April 6, 2026). Amidst the traditional procession, personnel from the 2026 Carstensz Peace Operation Task Force were present not only to provide security but also to mingle with the community.
Since morning, personnel had held a preparatory roll call before heading to the location. Upon arrival at Antioch Church, they immediately adjusted to the atmosphere, greeted residents, and ensured the traditional procession ran safely and smoothly.
In between security duties, personnel interacted with the community in attendance. The presence of the Carstensz Peace Operation Task Force in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere created a sense of comfort and strengthened the relationship between security forces and local residents.
The stone burning tradition, a part of the local wisdom of the Papuan people, proceeded smoothly and concluded in the afternoon. Residents participated in each series of activities with great reverence, while personnel from the Carstensz Peace Operation Task Force remained on standby to ensure the situation remained conducive.
The Head of the Carstensz Peace Operation 2026, Inspector General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., stated that security measures had been prepared from the outset, with an approach that focused not only on security but also on togetherness.
“We have prepared security measures to ensure the activities run safely. However, we also encourage personnel to attend in a humane manner, mingling with the community, and building close relationships with the community at every activity,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief of the Carstensz Peace Operation 2026, Senior Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., added that moments like this provide an opportunity to strengthen social ties between the Carstensz Peace Operation personnel and the community.
“The presence of the Carstensz Peace Operation Task Force in community activities is not only for security purposes, but also to foster a sense of togetherness. Traditions like stone burning are part of the culture that must be preserved together,” he said.
Through direct involvement in traditional activities, the Carstensz 2026 Peace Operation Task Force strives to build closer communication with the community, thereby fostering mutual trust in maintaining security and order in the Papua region.
