Jayapura – The Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 recorded significant achievements in law enforcement and security stabilization efforts across Papua throughout 2025. Through a series of integrated operations involving the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri), authorities successfully curbed the activities of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB), which has long threatened public safety.
Head of Public Relation of Task Force Operation Peace Cartenz 2025, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, stated that a total of 45 KKB members were secured during continuous operations conducted in several high-risk areas. These actions form part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at dismantling armed violence networks in Papua.
“Of those detained, 15 KKB members were killed after resisting arrest with firearms,” Yusuf Sutejo explained. Meanwhile, 20 individuals have been formally named as suspects and are currently undergoing legal proceedings, while the remaining individuals are still subject to further investigation and case development.
In addition to targeting personnel, Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 also succeeded in confiscating strategic evidence used by the KKB to carry out armed attacks. This measure is considered crucial in reducing the group’s combat capability and operational threat.
The seized evidence included 29 firearms, 45 magazines, two explosive devices, and 4,194 rounds of ammunition. Authorities also secured various bladed weapons, including traditional bows and arrows, which are frequently used in armed conflicts in remote areas.
Law enforcement efforts further targeted KKB logistical infrastructure. Throughout 2025, security forces destroyed 14 KKB bases located at several strategic points, aiming to sever supply routes and eliminate hideouts used by the armed group.
The destruction of these bases is believed to have significantly restricted the group’s mobility and weakened internal consolidation. Continuous pressure is expected to create a deterrent effect and reduce the intensity of security disturbances in Papua.
Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo emphasized that Operation Peace Cartenz 2025 will continue to be carried out in a measured, professional, and sustained manner. “We remain committed to maintaining security and public order in Papua and to protecting civilians from the threats posed by the Armed Criminal Group,” he said.
