Jayapura – Several Papuan traditional leaders, Sentani community members, youth groups, and representatives of local organizations firmly rejected separatist activities in Papua, particularly in the Sentani District of Jayapura. This stance was conveyed ahead of the anniversary of the Free Papua Movement on Monday, December 1, 2025.

The rejection was delivered during a public discussion and declaration held by the Aliansi Sentani Bersatu Sejahtera (ASBS Papua). The discussion focused on opposing separatist activities and expressing support for government policies aimed at advancing development in Papua.

“Today, the people of Papua need peace to work, strive, and build. We reject any form of division and support government programs that aim to bring prosperity to the Papuan people,” said ASBS Chairman Jhon Maurits Suebu in his presentation on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

The event, held at Howe Café on Ifar Besar Street, Sentani District, Jayapura Regency, also featured Papuan traditional leader Syos Sokay and Pastor Helen Monim. During the discussion, the speakers emphasized the importance of maintaining security stability in Sentani and across Papua.

As the sensitive date of December 1 approaches—a moment often exploited by certain groups to spread separatist narratives—traditional leaders stressed that development can only be achieved through synergy among indigenous communities, local government, and security forces. They urged the public not to be influenced by provocative issues and to uphold unity.

“Therefore, we once again hope that activities related to negative acts must not be carried out. We ask everyone to remain vigilant. Likewise, we hope authorities continue working with us to anticipate security issues and maintain peace in our community,” said Syos Sokay.

The event concluded with the reading of the Aliansi Sentani Bersatu Sejahtera Declaration, containing a shared commitment to reject separatist activities in Papua, maintain peace and security, and support government policies that positively contribute to Papua’s development.

With this event, Sentani residents are expected to remain united in safeguarding peace and to actively participate in regional development.
