INTAN JAYA, Central Papua – Ahead of the 81st anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force-2026, together with the Habema Operations Task Force, strengthened its presence among the community through integrated patrols in Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua, on Sunday (August 16, 2026).
The patrols were aimed not only at monitoring the security situation but also at ensuring that residents could carry out their daily activities safely and comfortably ahead of the Independence Day celebrations. The presence of personnel among the community also provided an opportunity to communicate directly with residents and build closer relationships with them.
During the activity, personnel moved through several areas that serve as centers of community activity while monitoring the surrounding conditions. Along the patrol route, personnel also took the time to greet and communicate with residents they encountered.
These simple interactions formed part of the human-centered approach emphasized in the implementation of their duties. Through direct communication, personnel were able to listen to the conditions experienced by residents while also encouraging them to work together in maintaining security and public order in their respective communities.
Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation-2026, Inspector General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., said that the presence of personnel ahead of the 81st Independence Day was intended to provide a sense of security while strengthening public trust.
“We want the people of Intan Jaya to be able to welcome and commemorate the 81st anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia safely and comfortably. Therefore, our personnel are not only present to maintain security, but also to communicate directly with and listen to the community,” said the Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation-2026.
He explained that a conducive security situation would provide residents with greater space to carry out their activities, both their daily routines and preparations for the Independence Day celebrations.
“This patrol is a preventive measure to identify developments in the situation at an early stage while ensuring that people can carry out their activities peacefully. We encourage everyone to work together to maintain their surroundings and create an atmosphere of security and togetherness,” he added.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation-2026, Police Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., said that patrols were one of the ways personnel could establish a closer presence among the community.
“We encourage our personnel to maintain a human-centered approach. Greeting, speaking with, and listening to residents are part of our efforts to build trust. Through good communication, members of the community can also directly convey the conditions they are experiencing,” said the Deputy Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation-2026.
He encouraged residents to work together to maintain a peaceful atmosphere ahead of the 81st Independence Day and not to be easily influenced by unverified information.
“The Independence Day momentum is an opportunity for all of us to strengthen togetherness. Let us maintain the security of our respective communities so that all activities can take place safely, orderly, and in a spirit of brotherhood,” he said.
The presence of personnel during the patrol was also felt by local residents. One Intan Jaya resident, who asked not to be identified, said that the patrols provided a sense of reassurance, particularly ahead of Independence Day as residents began preparing for various activities.
“We feel more at ease when we see officers present and moving around among the community. Especially now that August 17 is approaching. We hope the situation remains safe so that we can continue working and carrying out our activities as usual,” the resident said.
According to the resident, the direct communication carried out by personnel also made people feel more cared for. The presence of officers was not seen merely as part of security measures, but also as an opportunity for residents to convey the conditions they experience in their daily lives.
“The officers also greet and talk with the community. Things like this make us feel closer to them and give us an opportunity to share what is happening around us. We hope activities like this will continue,” the resident added.
For the people of Intan Jaya, the presence of personnel among daily community activities is expected to provide reassurance while demonstrating that security efforts go hand in hand with concern for the community. The patrols also give personnel an opportunity to directly observe residents’ activities and better understand the conditions they face in their daily lives.
Through the integrated patrols, the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force-2026 and the Habema Operations Task Force continue to strengthen their synergy in maintaining security in Intan Jaya. Their presence is expected to help create a safe environment so that residents can welcome the 81st anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia peacefully and in a spirit of togetherness.
The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force-2026 will continue to prioritize preventive measures, communication, and a human-centered approach in maintaining security. Community support and participation remain important elements in creating a safe and conducive security and public order situation in Intan Jaya Regency.
