Agandugume District and Lambewi District are experiencing a drought disaster that threatens the community with hunger, but the assistance that has been distributed by the Ministry of Social Affairs through the TNI has not been able to reach the location because the area is classified as vulnerable as a crossing of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in three districts.
Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri has stated that he does not want the aid delivery process to experience security disturbances that lead to casualties. The distance and geographical conditions of the area that are difficult to reach also add to the difficulty in distributing aid.
Currently, aid can only be sent to Sinak District, which is a KKB base area. The area does not yet have a security post, making it difficult to distribute aid. He said.
One of the solutions proposed by the Papua Police Chief is the mobilization of residents at the disaster site to Sinak District to collect staples independently. Although this allows aid to be distributed, there is a risk of security disturbances due to the potential infiltration of KKB among people who move to look for staples.
In addition, efforts to improve security in the region must also be a priority so that aid can reach the disaster site more easily and safely.
