Jayapura – After the riot incident that occurred in the Sinakma area, Wamena District, Jayawijaya Regency, it became a lesson for all of us, especially in the mountainous areas and also in other areas of Papua.

This was disclosed by the Head of the Papua Regional Police Inspector General Pol Mathius D. Fakhiri, S.I.K while doing a Doorstop at the Grand Baliem Hotel Wamena and accompanied by the Head of Propam Polda Papua Kombes Pol Gustav R. Urbinas, S.H., S.I.K., M.Pd and Kapolres Jayawijaya AKBP Hesman S. Napitupulu, S.H, S.I.K, M.H.,

The Papua Police Chief expresses his deepest condolences for the death of our brothers and sisters yesterday as a result of the riots that occurred.

“We also hope that this will be a lesson for all of us, especially in mountainous areas and also in other areas of Papua. We don’t need to repeatedly believe various baseless issues or all kinds of hoax news,” said the regional police chief, Monday (27/02). ).

Furthermore, the Kapolda said that there were security officers in the local area who could be asked questions and could get an explanation and how in the future the process could be completed properly, not resolved in the field.

“I hope that the handling that will be carried out by the government and security forces can be followed up immediately,” he said.

In addition, he revealed a thorough evaluation of the implementation of the tasks that had been carried out by the Jayawijaya Police.

“I asked for detailed facts and data on the ground so that this will be a thorough evaluation of how the implementation of security duties must be carried out in the future in dealing with masses,” he said.

There are 16 members of the National Police who have been examined to date and for sure there will be more in the future because there are many members who go to the field and will be examined in detail the role of each member.

“Yesterday, 13 people were arrested by the Police Chief but have been released again but will continue to be monitored based on the data we have so that if it is proven that they were directly involved in an active role in the action, or provoked us, we will take legal action,” he said.

In the end, Inspector General Fakhiri advised not to take advantage of yesterday’s issue to commit other crimes such as killing human lives, raping, robbing or intimidating other members of the public.
