Jayapura – Papua Governor Mathius D. Fakhiri has called on all elements of society to strengthen unity, solidarity, and collaboration to promote a safe, peaceful, progressive, and prosperous Papua.
Fakhiri made the call during the State Reception marking the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at the State Building in Dok V, Jayapura, on Monday (Aug. 17). The event was attended by Papua Deputy Governor Aryoko Alberto Ferdinand Rumaropen, members of the regional leadership coordination forum, Papua Legislative Council leaders, TNI-Polri personnel, community leaders, Paskibraka members, and other invited guests.
Fakhiri said the Independence Day commemoration serves as an important moment to reflect on the nation’s journey, which was built through struggle, sacrifice, unity, and the contributions of people from all elements of society. He said these values must continue to be translated into concrete efforts that benefit the people of Papua.
“From Papua Province, we reaffirm our commitment that independence must have a real meaning for the welfare, peace, and progress of all people, particularly the people of Papua,” Fakhiri said.
He stressed that Papua’s development cannot be carried out by the government alone. Strong synergy is needed among the regional government, the TNI and Polri, the business sector, community leaders, youth, and other elements of society to address development challenges while strengthening social harmony.
Fakhiri called on all parties to set aside differences and strengthen cooperation in line with Papua’s vision of becoming a smart, prosperous, and harmonious province. “Let us continue to strengthen unity, work together, and build collaboration with all parties to realize a more advanced, peaceful, and prosperous Papua,” he said.
Fakhiri emphasized that the spirit of the 81st Independence Day should not be limited to ceremonial activities but should be reflected in concrete efforts to improve people’s welfare. He said unity and collaboration are essential foundations for building a better future for Papua.
