DOGIYAI – Ahead of the 81st anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, calls for peace, security, and harmony continue to be conveyed to communities across Dogiyai Regency, Central Papua. One such message came from Isak Tebai, the Mee Tribal Leader of Duntek Village, North Kamuu District, during a public security and community engagement activity held on Monday (August 3, 2026).

The meeting provided an opportunity for government representatives and traditional leaders to discuss the importance of maintaining a safe and peaceful environment while strengthening communication with local communities ahead of the national Independence Day celebrations.

During the meeting, Isak Tebai emphasized the importance of continued support for development and community empowerment initiatives. He said that government programs addressing the needs of local residents could provide greater benefits when implemented consistently and with active community participation.

“We have seen programs that have provided benefits to the community. We hope initiatives that address the needs of residents will continue and reach more people,” Isak Tebai said.

In addition to discussing development, the traditional leader encouraged residents of Dogiyai to contribute to maintaining peace and stability in their respective communities. He emphasized that maintaining security is not solely the responsibility of law enforcement authorities but requires the participation of all members of society.

He also urged residents not to be easily influenced by information whose accuracy has not been verified. According to him, the spread of unverified information can lead to misunderstandings and potentially disrupt relationships among community members.

Ahead of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day celebrations, Isak Tebai called on traditional leaders, community leaders, young people, and residents to prioritize unity and welcome the Independence Day momentum in a peaceful atmosphere.

“When our environment is safe, people can carry out their daily activities properly. Let us maintain unity and work together to create a peaceful atmosphere,” he said.

Isak Tebai also expressed his support for the Central Government’s development programs, particularly those related to infrastructure development, food security, and community empowerment. He viewed security and development as closely interconnected elements in improving the welfare of local communities.

The engagement with the traditional leader was part of efforts to strengthen ties with local communities through a dialogue-based approach. Traditional leaders play an important role in conveying positive messages to residents due to their close social connections and influence within their respective communities.

Through strong communication and cooperation among the government, security authorities, traditional leaders, and local residents, the security situation in Dogiyai Regency is expected to remain safe and conducive. Such conditions are also important in enabling the community to celebrate Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day in a spirit of togetherness while upholding the values of unity and peace.
