Jayapura – The Chairperson of the Papuan Youth Presidium in the Tabi Region, Fran Reynould Thejo, called on all Papuans, especially the younger generation, to work together to maintain public order and security (Kamtibmas) and to avoid being easily provoked by issues that could potentially cause division within the community.
In his statement, Fran Reynould Thejo highlighted the ongoing dynamics surrounding the rejection of several government policies in Papua, including the National Strategic Projects (PSN). He stated that the public needs to understand each policy holistically and not just view it from one perspective.
He believes that the emergence of various negative perceptions of development programs, including those related to the PSN in Merauke Regency, is influenced by the circulation of information that does not provide a comprehensive picture of the benefits of development for the community.
“Many people only see one side of the ongoing development, even though there are also benefits aimed at driving regional progress and improving community welfare,” he said on Friday (June 12, 2026).
Fran Reynould Thejo also hopes that the regional government can be more active in educating the public, especially youth and students, about the goals and benefits of various government policies implemented in Papua.
He believes that good communication between the government and the public is key to reducing misunderstandings and strengthening support for development programs aimed at improving the welfare of the Papuan people.
As a youth leader, he hopes that the security and order situation throughout Papua, especially Jayapura City, will remain safe and conducive so that development can proceed smoothly.
“I urge all Papuans to be more discerning in assessing various information and not to be easily provoked by issues that can divide the community. Unity and shared awareness are the main assets for realizing a more advanced, developed, and prosperous Papua,” said Fran Reynould Thejo.
Concluding his speech, he urged all elements of society to continue maintaining peace, strengthening unity, and working together to create a safe and conducive environment for the advancement of Papua.
