Sorong – Supratman Andi Agtas reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding access to official education programs for Papuan youth through affirmative policies within the Ministry of Law.
The statement was delivered during the inauguration of Village and Subdistrict Legal Aid Posts for the Provinces of West Papua and Southwest Papua in Sorong, Southwest Papua, on Monday (May 18, 2026).
According to Supratman, the affirmative policy is part of the government’s commitment to improving the quality of human resources in Papua, particularly in the fields of law and public services.
“This affirmative policy is a form of the government’s commitment to expanding access to education and improving the quality of Papua’s human resources,” said Supratman.
He explained that through the policy, the Ministry of Law hopes more Papuan young people will have opportunities to grow, become competitive, and contribute to the development of national law.
During the event, Supratman also expressed appreciation for the performances presented by students and university students from West Papua, who showcased a harmonious blend of movement, music, and vocal performances.
According to him, the performances reflected the great potential, enthusiasm, and discipline of Papuan youth, which should continue to be supported through the government’s affirmative policies.
“Their performance shows the great potential of Papuan youth that must continue to be supported,” he stated.
Furthermore, the Minister of Law emphasized that the Ministry is opening wider opportunities for Papuan youth to access official education programs and become Civil State Apparatus (ASN) within the Ministry of Law.
He also offered opportunities for several Papuan students to continue their studies at Politeknik Pengayoman Indonesia, the official educational institution under the Ministry of Law.
For university students interested in joining the program, the educational process will begin again from the first semester. Upon graduation, students will have the opportunity to become civil servants within the Ministry of Law.
However, students currently pursuing higher education will still be given the option to continue their studies at their respective universities.
Supratman stressed that affirmative policies would continue to be strengthened in both civil servant recruitment and admissions for official schools under the Ministry of Law.
He also encouraged junior and senior high school students in Papua to prepare themselves from an early stage in order to take advantage of educational opportunities within the Ministry of Law’s official institutions.
