Mimika, Central Papua – The Central Papua provincial government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving education quality through the 2026 Regional Consolidation of Primary and Secondary Education, held under the theme “Strengthening Universal Participation to Achieve Quality Education for All.”

The event, organized by the Papua Education Quality Assurance Agency (BPMP) through the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), took place at Hotel Horison Diana in Timika over three days, from March 10 to 12, 2026.

In a speech read on behalf of Governor Meki Fritz Nawipa by Marthen Ukago, SE., M.Si., Special Staff to the Governor for Governance, Politics, and Law, the governor expressed his appreciation for the participation of representatives from all eight regencies in Central Papua. He noted that the involvement of education stakeholders at both provincial and regency levels demonstrates a shared commitment to strengthening quality education across the region.

The provincial government emphasized that the consolidation forum is a strategic platform to enhance synergy, understanding, and collaboration among government agencies, communities, media, and all education stakeholders. The event’s theme is particularly relevant given the current challenges in Papua’s educational development, where education serves as the foundation for building competitive, high-quality, and character-driven human resources.

Aligned with Central Papua’s vision for a just, harmonious, advanced, competitive, dignified, and sustainable province, the government continues to promote programs aimed at improving education quality. In 2025, several initiatives were implemented, including free education for senior high school (SMA), vocational school (SMK), and special-needs school (SLB) students; full-day schooling to strengthen character development; development of boarding schools in remote areas; and deployment of teachers to hard-to-reach regions.

These programs underscore the government’s commitment to ensuring education access is not concentrated in urban centers but reaches inland and remote communities.

The consolidation forum is expected to foster stronger cross-sector coordination and generate strategic recommendations to enhance the quality of education in Central Papua, making it more inclusive, adaptive, and responsive to regional development needs.

The provincial government also called on all stakeholders to reinforce collaboration, noting that education development cannot be achieved by the government alone but requires support from all elements of society.

Through strong cooperation, Central Papua aims to nurture a generation of young people who are intelligent, have strong character, and are competitive both nationally and globally. The 2026 Regional Consolidation of Primary and Secondary Education in Central Papua was officially opened by a representative of the provincial government.
