Wamena – The Papua Mountains Provincial Government is pushing for the construction of a Regional Police Station (Polda) in Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency, to improve security in the area.
Papua Mountains Governor John Tabo, in a written statement in Wamena on Monday, stated that the regional government has prepared a plot of land for the construction of the Papua Mountains Police Station.
“Approximately 10 hectares of land is ready. Now we are waiting for the police to determine their readiness to build the Papua Mountains Police Station,” he said.
According to Tabo, the land prepared for the Papua Mountains Police Station is in the Wouma area of Jayawijaya Regency.
“The regional government has purchased the land in Wouma first. We will distribute it to vertical offices such as the Regional Police Station, the High Prosecutor’s Office, the High Court, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and other vertical offices,” he said.
He explained that the regional government has already paid for 42 hectares of land in Wouma.
“We will divide it up later: the Regional Police (Polda) will receive 10 hectares, the High Prosecutor’s Office (AGO) will receive 10 hectares, the High Court will receive 10 hectares, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) will receive 10 hectares, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will receive 10 hectares, and other vertical agencies will be divided equally so that everyone can occupy the Wouma location,” he said.
He added that with the presence of the Papua Mountains Regional Police (Polda) and other vertical agencies, the government system will be complete.
“Like a bird, the Papua Mountains Provincial Government is the head, the left and right wings are the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda). When its wings are complete, this bird will soar high, as hoped,” he said.
