Sinak, Papua Pegunungan – Amid the weary faces of displaced residents battling malaria, a glimmer of hope arrived in the footsteps of officers carrying not only security gear, but also medicine and compassion. On Thursday morning (January 29, 2026), personnel from the Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force 2026 visited displaced families from Tagalame Village in Sinak District, carrying out a dual mission: maintaining security and safeguarding public health.
The activity was led by IPDA Eka Baja Paruntungan along with a team from the operational task force. They moved through displacement areas, engaging residents in dialogue while ensuring the local security situation remained safe and stable amid the community’s vulnerable condition.
The most touching moment came when the patrol shifted into a humanitarian response. Among pale children, mothers shivering with fever, and elderly residents lying weak, task force personnel conducted medical check-ups, distributed medicines, and provided education on malaria prevention. Small gestures that meant a great deal for people with extremely limited access to healthcare.
Head of Damai Cartenz Operation 2026, Inspector General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, emphasized that the presence of security forces in Papua is not solely about law enforcement, but also about caring for the community’s well-being.
“We want people to feel that the state is present not only during security disturbances, but also when they are sick and in need of help. A humanitarian approach is the bridge to building trust,” said Irjen Pol. Faizal Ramadhani.
He noted that displacement conditions place residents in a highly vulnerable position, both physically and psychologically. For that reason, dialogical patrols combined with healthcare services represent a concrete effort by the police to address the community’s urgent needs.
“When people feel safe and their health is cared for, hope to recover and move forward begins to grow. That is the core mission of Damai Cartenz Operation — delivering security along with compassion,” he added.
The task force’s presence was warmly welcomed by residents. Several displaced individuals expressed their gratitude, saying they were greatly helped because medical checks and medicines were provided directly on-site, without requiring long travel while ill.
Through this humanitarian patrol, Damai Cartenz Operation 2026 reaffirmed its commitment to keeping Papua safe not only through security measures, but also through genuine human care felt directly by the community.
