Ministry of Public Works Begins Construction of Three Community Schools in Papua

Jayapura — The Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) has initiated the construction of three Community Schools located in Biak Numfor Regency, Sarmi Regency, and Jayapura City as part of the government’s effort to expand access to proper educational facilities in Papua.
Head of the Papua Settlement Infrastructure Agency (BPPW Papua), (official’s name), stated that preparation at one of the sites has entered the land-clearing stage.
“For the Biak Numfor location, we have carried out land preparation on approximately nine hectares, and the environmental permit process is currently underway,” he said in Jayapura on Tuesday.
He explained that the other two sites are being processed in accordance with technical requirements. All construction work is planned to proceed in stages and is targeted for timely completion.
“Through the construction of these schools, we hope that access to education in Papua will continue to expand and that the facilities provided can better support teaching and learning activities,” he added.
The Community School development is part of a multi-year project with a total budget reaching hundreds of billions of rupiah.
The government views the establishment of these schools as essential to addressing the educational needs in areas that have long lacked adequate infrastructure.
