Pertamina Ensures Fuel Supply Availability in Two Districts of Papua Highlands

Jayapura — PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Papua Maluku has confirmed that fuel supplies in two remote districts of the Papua Highlands — Kanggime and Balingga, Lanny Jaya Regency — are now available and sufficient for community needs.

Executive General Manager (EGM) of Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Papua Maluku, Awan Raharjo, stated in Jayapura on Wednesday (Nov 4, 2025), that the company had begun distributing fuel to the two districts in early September. With this distribution, residents no longer need to worry about fuel shortages in their areas.

“The presence of energy in these two districts of the Papua Highlands is a remarkable collaborative effort between Pertamina Patra Niaga, BPH Migas, local governments, fuel distributors, and the local communities,” Awan said.

He explained that the existing fuel distribution outlets in Kanggime and Balingga now serve as a backbone for transportation and economic activities in those regions. Pertamina, he added, will continue to monitor distribution closely—both in terms of volume and types of fuel products—to ensure they match local needs.

Awan emphasized that this initiative is part of Pertamina Patra Niaga’s commitment to maintaining national energy resilience, ensuring equitable and affordable energy access, especially in Indonesia’s frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped (3T) regions.

“We hope that the availability of fuel in these two districts will be truly beneficial for the communities and help drive regional economic growth,” Awan added.

Meanwhile, the owner of the fuel distribution outlet in Kanggime District, Tendimin Yigibalom, expressed his appreciation to Pertamina for successfully delivering fuel to the remote highland areas.

“Now, residents can easily obtain fuel at the same price as in urban areas,” he said.

With the continues presence of fuel supplies in these districts, Pertamina expects to boost local economic activities and improve the overall welfare of people in the Papua Highlands.
