Timika – Mimika Deputy Regent Emanuel Kemong has urged the public to remain calm and not be easily swayed by unverified information regarding the security situation in Jila District.

Kemong emphasized that security forces, together with the Mimika Regency Government, are working continuously to ensure the situation in Jila returns to a safe and stable state so that community activities can resume as normal.

“Let us, the people of Mimika, place our trust in the security forces. This is so that the situation in Jila can quickly become peaceful and secure, and activities there can return to normal,” Kemong said during a press conference at the Mimika Regent’s residence on Jalan Hasanuddin, Timika, on Thursday evening (August 20, 2026).

He noted that the government would also involve various parties in the process of mobilizing and distributing food aid to Jila residents affected by the security situation.

He hopes the entire aid distribution process proceeds smoothly so that the community’s basic needs continue to be met while services in the area remain limited.

Additionally, Kemong expressed concern regarding reports of residents—particularly women and children—missing from Jila. He hopes they will soon return and reunite safely with their families.

“I sincerely hope that the innocent women and children are quickly returned to their families,” he said.

Kemong called on all Mimika residents to work together to maintain security and peace in the Land of Papua and to place their trust in the security personnel currently carrying out their duties in the field.

“Let us keep this Land of Papua safe and peaceful,” he asserted.
