Jayapura– The Jayapura City Police have once again demonstrated their commitment to fighting narcotics by destroying 7.4 kilograms of marijuana seized from various cases between May and August 2025.
The destruction took place on Tuesday (Sept. 9) at the Ampera Futsal Field in Jayapura Utara District, witnessed by law enforcement officers and related agencies as a form of transparency in law enforcement.
Head of the Narcotics Unit at Jayapura City Police, AKP Febry Pardede, stated that the confiscated evidence came from five different suspects.
Suspect GM was found with more than 6.4 kilograms of marijuana, DSS with nearly 600 grams, BP with almost 300 grams, while SY and JM were caught with smaller amounts. According to Pardede, such firm action is crucial to prevent narcotics from re-entering circulation in the community.
He also urged residents of Jayapura to actively participate, especially by reporting any indications of marijuana or other drug distribution in their surroundings.
“Drug trafficking is a serious threat to the younger generation. Therefore, we hope that the community and the police can work hand in hand to cut off the chain of narcotics abuse,” he said.
