JAYAPURA — The commemoration of National Children’s Day 2025 in Papua became a meaningful moment for the education sector. Acting Governor of Papua, Agus Fatoni, distributed aid to several schools in Jayapura City on Wednesday (July 23, 2025), as a show of commitment to improving the quality of Papua’s young generation.

The aid included vitamins, milk, healthy snacks, iron supplements, and free healthcare services for infants, toddlers, children, and teenagers. The activities took place at two schools SD Inpres Bhayangkara and SD Inpres Angkasapura as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program of Bank Papua, in collaboration with the Jayapura City Government, regional agencies (OPDs), the Family Welfare Movement (PKK), and various stakeholders.

Fatoni emphasized that National Children’s Day is the right moment to demonstrate real care for the future of the younger generation. According to him, Papua needs healthy, intelligent, and morally upright children to become future leaders.

“Today, we celebrate National Children’s Day. Children are the baton bearers of development they are everything,” said Fatoni in his remarks.

Speaking directly to the students, he also offered words of motivation. With an enthusiastic tone, Fatoni encouraged Papuan children to dream big. He shared his own story of growing up in a remote village on the border of Lampung and South Sumatra, yet now entrusted with the role of Acting Governor of Papua.

“Papuan children must be greater than me. I came from a border village and became Acting Governor. You live in the city of Jayapura surely you can achieve more, even become president,” he said, greeted by loud applause from students and teachers.

This year’s National Children’s Day commemoration was a heartfelt occasionnot only because of the aid distributed, but also because of the hopeful message it carried: that Papuan children deserve to dream, and that the state is here to support those dreams.
