Indonesian of Police Ensures Maximum Handling for Members Injured in the Wamena Incident

Jayapura, June 1, 2025 — The National Police of the Republic of Indonesia confirmed its commitment to the safety and full recovery of every personnel who became victims in the mission, following the referral of a member of the Jayawijaya Police to the Bhayangkara Hospital Level I Pusdokkes Polri, Kramat Jati, Jakarta, after being injured due to the attack by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Wamena, Papua.

The victim previously received intensive care at Bhayangkara Level II Hospital Kotaraja, Jayapura, and was decided to be referred to Jakarta for further medical treatment by the best team of specialist doctors in the National Police.

Head of Operation Peace Cartenz-2025, Brigadier General of Police Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., said that this referral step is part of the rapid response system in ensuring the recovery of injured members in carrying out state duties.

“We provide the best treatment for our members. This reference is a real form of institutional concern for health and the future of personnel,” said Brigadier General Faizal accompanied by Deputy Head of Operation Peace Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H.

Head of Bhayangkara Hospital Jayapura, Assistant Commissioner of Police Dr. dr. Rommy Sebastian, also said that the patient had undergone treatment according to SOP and was in stable condition when he was sent to Jakarta. During the referral process, patients are accompanied by a professional medical team to ensure strict supervision during the journey.

“This is a form of synergy of the health service system in the body of the National Police that runs in an integrated manner, starting from the initial handling in the regions to further referrals in the center,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for Operation Peave Cartenz, Chief Commissioner of Police Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., invites the public to not only empathize with the victims, but also understand the complexity of the duties of officers in conflict-prone areas.

“We ask for prayers and community support for the healing of our members. Polri will continue to be present to maintain security and order, by upholding the principle of professionalism and protection of the community and its own members,” said Yusuf.

He added, the condition in Jayawijaya Regency, especially in Wamena, has returned to be conducive. Residents’ activities are normal, and security is carried out in layers to prevent further security disturbances.

“The National Police will not back down in the face of threats to the community and its personnel. We remain alert and ensure stability is maintained,” said Yusuf.

This quick and coordinated step shows that the National Police’s health service system continues to develop not only for law enforcement, but also to ensure the safety of the nation’s guards who are on the front line.
