Central Papua Governor Accompanied by Mimika Regent Inaugurates GKI Class Office in SP V Timika.

Timika, Central Papua — Governor of Central Papua, Meki Fritz Nawipa, inaugurated the Mimika Evangelical Christian Church (GKI) Class Office located on Jalan Poros SP V, Timika, Saturday (4/26/2025).
The inauguration ceremony was solemn, attended by Mimika Regent Johannes Rettob, Deputy Regent Emanuel Kemong, religious figures, congregations, and other guests.
This inauguration began with a joint thanksgiving service, as a form of gratitude for the completion of the construction of the church infrastructure which is expected to strengthen the spiritual ministry in the Mimika region and its surroundings.
In his speech, Governor Meki Fritz Nawipa expressed his appreciation for the important role of the Evangelical Christian Church in building the character, civilization, and independence of the Papuan people. He emphasized, the existence of the church must be a partner of the government in an effort to build the region, not a source of division.
“The Church must be a pillar of moral and truth, and encourage fair development. I hope GKI can continue to synergize with the local government in building a peaceful and prosperous Central Papua,” said Nawipa.
Furthermore, Governor Nawipa emphasized the importance of harmonization between the government and religious institutions to create a harmonious and just social life. He hopes that the newly inaugurated GKI Mimika Class Office can be a service center that brings a positive impact, both spiritually and socially for the community.
Mimika Regent, Johannes Rettob on that occasion also expressed his gratitude for the cooperation of all parties in realizing the construction of this classic office. He hopes that GKI Mimika can be more active in supporting various regional development programs, especially in the fields of education, health, and strengthening moral values in the community.
The inauguration of the GKI Mimika Class Office became an important momentum in strengthening the role of the church as an agent of change, as well as strengthening cooperation between the church and the government in building a better Central Papua.
