Operasi Damai Cartenz: A Meaningful Bond Between Police and Papuan Children

Mimika, Central Papua – On Saturday (2/1), a warm and heartfelt atmosphere filled Mimika Regency, Central Papua, as Deputy Head of Public Relations for Operasi Damai Cartenz-2025, Police Commissioner Yusuf Tauziri, S.I.K., shared a special moment with a Papuan child. The two were seen enjoying a friendly dinner, reflecting the National Police’s commitment to maintaining peace in the Land of Cenderawasih through a humanistic approach.
This moment of closeness took place after Commissioner Yusuf had completed his duties. A cheerful child approached him, playfully asking amusing questions, which were met with laughter and smiles. More than just answering, Commissioner Yusuf engaged in conversation, creating an informal and barrier-free connection.
According to Commissioner Yusuf, interactions like these are an essential part of the police’s efforts to provide a sense of security, especially for Papuan children.
“Building bonds with them is very important. We want them to feel comfortable and safe in our presence, not the other way around,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for Operasi Damai Cartenz-2025, Police Grand Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., emphasized that such interactions serve as real evidence of the operation’s commitment—not only to security but also to fostering harmonious relationships with the community.
“With a more humanistic approach, we hope that trust and peace in Papua will continue to strengthen,” he added.
