Mimika, Saturday (2/1) – Night slowly descended upon Mimika, Central Papua. Streetlights illuminated the corners of the city, casting a warm glow against the cool evening air. At a simple table, Deputy Head of Public Relations for Operasi Damai Cartenz-2025, Police Commissioner Yusuf Tauziri, S.I.K., sat enjoying his dinner. But what made this scene special was not the meal before him—it was the presence of a small child who innocently approached him.

The child’s face was bright, full of curiosity. With confident steps, he walked up and playfully asked a lighthearted question, which was immediately met with laughter from Commissioner Yusuf. More than just responding, the senior officer took the time to share stories, explaining things in simple terms while occasionally laughing with the enthusiastic child.

There were no barriers between them. This was more than just an ordinary encounter—it was a symbol of warmth and the humanistic approach that Operasi Damai Cartenz-2025 continues to uphold.

“Building close relationships with Papuan children is part of our efforts to create a safe and welcoming environment. We want them to feel that our presence brings security, not fear,” said Commissioner Yusuf, his eyes reflecting genuine sincerity.

Elsewhere, the Head of Public Relations for Operasi Damai Cartenz-2025, Police Grand Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, S.I.K., M.T., emphasized that small interactions like these have a significant impact. For them, the presence of security forces in Papua is not just about maintaining order but also about fostering closer ties with the community.

“With a more humanistic approach, we hope that trust and peace in Papua will continue to grow stronger,” he stated.

That night, there were no distinctions between an officer and a small child. Only laughter filled the air—warm, meaningful, and a small step toward a more peaceful Papua.
