Yalimo Police Chief Leads the Releasing Procession of the Body of Brigpol (Posthumous) Igbal Anwar Arif

Yalimo- Yalimo Police Chief, Commissioner Joni Samonsabra, S.H., M.H., together with the Main Officials (PJU) and personnel of the Yalimo Police, led the releasing procession of the body of Brigpol (Posthumous) Iqbal Anwar Arif, S.H., Saturday (18/1/2025) morning
The procession was held at Elelim Airport, Yalimo Regency, before departing for Jayapura City.
Brigpol (Posthumous) Iqbal Anwar Arif, S.H., was a member of Ba Provos Yon B Men III Pasukan Pelopor who was part of the Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force (ODC) 2025.
The deceased died on duty after being shot on Friday (17/1/2025) afternoon. The tragic incident occurred when the deceased was carrying out a security operation in the Yalimo Regency area. The deceased had received medical treatment at the Elelim Health Center before being declared dead at around 17:35 WIT.
In an atmosphere of deep sorrow, the farewell procession began with a final tribute ceremony attended by the extended family of the Yalimo Police and a number of local residents.
The Yalimo Police Chief expressed his deepest condolences to the deceased’s family and appreciated Brigpol Iqbal’s dedication and sacrifice while on duty.
“We have lost one of the best soldiers who has shown high dedication in carrying out state duties. We pray that the deceased will be given the best place in the sight of God Almighty, and the family left behind will be given strength and fortitude,” said the Yalimo Police Chief.
After the farewell ceremony, the body was departed by plane from Elelim Airport to Jayapura City. The body will then be flown to his hometown for burial.
The passing of Brigpol Iqbal Anwar Arif, S.H., left deep sorrow, not only for the extended Polri family, but also for the Yalimo community who felt the deceased’s dedication while serving in the area. This final tribute is a symbol of appreciation for the deceased’s sacrifice in maintaining security and peace in Papua.
