Jayapura- Security forces from the TNI and Polri are ready to make the success and ensure the security of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) in the Papua region.
This is important, considering that there are still acts of armed violence carried out by armed groups in several places in the Papua region, such as in Puncak Regency, Yahukimo Regency, Paniai Regency, Bintang Mountains Regency, Nduga Regency, Intan Jaya Regency and Maybrat Regency.
Based on data from the 2024 Election Vulnerability Index (IKP), areas whose security status is considered vulnerable are in Central Papua Province and Mountain Papua Province, while other areas are considered to have medium security status.
Intelligence data also states that the level of vulnerability in the Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) tends to be medium-high, greater than the vulnerability of the Legislative Elections (Pileg) and Presidential Elections (Pilpres) which tend to be small-medium.
