Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police: Three Victims of the KKB Shooting in Near Kai are in Stable Condition
Jayapura – Head of the Public Relations Division (Kabid Humas) of the Papua Regional Police, Police Commissioner Ignatius Benny Adi Prabowo, said that based on reports received from personnel in the field, three victims of the shooting by the armed criminal group (KKB) in Dekai were in stable condition.
“The report we received was that the three victims, including two TNI members, were in stable condition after receiving treatment from medical personnel at the Dekai Regional Hospital,” said Ignatius Benny in Jayapura, Tuesday (6/2).
He explained that the shooting incident occurred on Monday (5/2) evening at around 20.45 WIT around Jalan Siep Asso, Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains.
When a number of TNI personnel and residents were carrying out activities to burn broiler chickens at the homes of TNI members who were in the Koramil Kodim 1715/Yahukimo Dormitory.
The perpetrators who were traveling on a motorbike suddenly fired firearms at the victim.
The three people who suffered gunshot wounds were Chief Private (Praka) Septiono Lawe and First Sergeant (Sertu) Ronaldo Abi, as well as a civilian named Dominius Nana.
“The incident started when Dominius and Ronaldo were burning chickens at the house of a TNI member on Jalan Siep Asso which is located next to the Dekai Koramil, suddenly two perpetrators came and quickly fired weapons from a distance of about 20 meters,” explained the Head of Division. Yahukimo Resort Police Chief Adjunct Police Commissioner Heru Hidayanto, contacted separately, admitted that he had not been able to confirm the group of perpetrators of the attack. “Until now, we are still investigating which group the KKB belongs to,” said the Police Chief.
