Jayapura – The Cartenz 2024 Peace Operation Task Force continues to work towards the release of Susi Air Pilot Capt Philip Matk Marthens who is being held hostage by the Nduga Region KKB, Chaired by Egianus Kogoya.

Head of Cartenz 2024 Peace Public Relations Task Force AKBP Dr. Bayu Suseno, S.H., S.I.K., M.M., M.H. emphasized that the communication negotiation process was still being carried out with Egianus Kogoya by the local government for the release of the Susi Air pilot, Wednesday (31/01/2024).

“Currently, the Acting Regent of Nduga is prioritizing negotiations with the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) because he has closeness and kinship with Egianus Kogoya,” stressed Bayu.

“Various communication efforts have been opened by Acting Regent Edison Gwijangge, but to date we have not found an agreement to release the Susi Air pilot,” he continued.

Various efforts were made by the Cartenz Peace Task Force for liberation, such as prioritizing the Soft Approach.

“We from the Cartenz 2024 Peace Task Force are prioritizing soft approach efforts first because of humanitarian considerations and the safety of the pilots themselves,” concluded Bayu.

As is known, on February 7 2024 it will be exactly 1 year since Susi Air Pilot Capt Philip Mark Marthens was taken hostage by the KKB who landed at Paro Airport, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains on February 7 2023.
