Police Warn of Legal Threats for Perpetrators of Election Fails

Jakarta. Cartenz Peace Kaops 2024 Kombes. Pol. Dr. Faizal Ramadhani stated that his party was involved in ensuring that the 2024 elections in Papua were safe and peaceful.

“The Cartenz 2024 Peace Task Force will be on full alert to assist the Papua Regional Police in securing election activities from KKB and KKP interference,” said Kaops, Monday (29/1/24).

Head of Public Relations Task Force for Peace Ops Cartenz AKBP Dr. Bayu Suseno, ahead of the 2024 election voting day, it is hoped that all parties will work together to maintain unity and unity. As stated by the National Police Chief, Police General Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that differences in choices are normal, but do not divide society.

Apart from that, Papuan community leader Thaha Alhamid said that the community has a big role in creating peaceful elections. Therefore, everyone must participate in realizing a democratic party that will lead to the welfare of the people.

“The community plays a big role in creating peaceful and peaceful elections
supports the government, 207 villages and all other parties. “Therefore, peace must be maintained so that the elections can run smoothly without any riots, let alone bloodshed,” he said.

As previously reported, the KNPB stated that the election should not be held because it was full of manipulation, corruption, division and hostility among the colonized people. Therefore, its implementation should be discouraged.

Regarding the statement by the West Papua National Committee (KNPB) which rejected the election because it was seen as the agenda of the Indonesian colonial authorities, the Head of the Public Relations Task Force emphasized threats and criminal sanctions for those who disrupted the implementation of the election. This is stated in Article 517 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections.

“The article states that anyone who deliberately fails to vote will be punished with imprisonment for a maximum of 5 (five) years and a fine of a maximum of Rp. 60,000,000.00 (sixty million rupiah),” explained Bayu.
