The Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police Reveals Details of the Development of the Michele Kurisi Doga Murder Case

Jayapura – Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police, Police Commissioner. Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.H., S.I.K., M.Kom, provided the latest information regarding the investigation into the criminal murder of Michele Kurisi Doga’s sister, which shocked the public. This statement was made when he was met by media crew on Friday (13/10).

The Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police explained that investigations are still ongoing intensively to uncover and arrest the four perpetrators who are still fugitives from the Police. This tragic incident came to light when the victim’s biological mother, on August 29 2023, learned via social media Facebook that her daughter had been the victim of abuse which resulted in death.

“The victim had been abused to the point of death by a number of people, and the victim’s mother found out about this two days after her child said goodbye to go to Wamena City,” said Police Commissioner. Benny.

To date, the police have succeeded in arresting three perpetrators of the abuse, namely PM who served as a spy, AW who was involved in planning the murder, and RK who was the driver of the vehicle carrying the victim. However, efforts to pursue the other four perpetrators, namely KW, DW, JW and KW, are still ongoing.

The motive behind the murder is thought to be related to the suspicion that the victim was a spy for the security forces. In the legal context, the perpetrators were charged under Article 338 of the Criminal Code (KUHPinana).

This article states, “Anyone who intentionally and with premeditation robs another person is threatened, for premeditated murder, with the death penalty or life imprisonment or a maximum term of twenty years.”

“This investigation continues, and the Papua Police are committed to ensuring that justice is served and the perpetrators are held accountable for this heinous act. “We also urge the public to help by providing relevant information to facilitate further investigations,” emphasized the Head of Public Relations.
