Jayapura- A shootout incident occurred in Ilaga, Puncak Regency, Central Papua, between TNI (Indonesian National Army) and KKB (Armed Criminal Group) officers.
Dansatgas Mobile Raider 300 Siliwangi, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Afri Swandi Ritonga said a KKB member named Marko Murib was killed in the incident. Marko is Titus Murib’s subordinate.
This incident occurred when TNI members, in this case the Yonif Raider 300/Bjw Task Force, were conducting patrols on Monday, September 11.
The patrol was carried out after receiving information that the KKB planned to burn down the telecommunications tower.
During the patrol, the team saw two KKB members carrying long-barreled firearms. When the KKB members realized the presence of officers, they fled, which then led to a chase and firefight that lasted for about five hours. Marko Murib alias Merinus Murib was shot dead from a distance of about 650 meters.
On the same day, KKB also burned down the house of a health worker, there were no casualties in the fire incident, and the fire was extinguished by a joint TNI-Polri team with the help of the local community.
