Jayapura – The Yahukimo Police are currently investigating a case of persecution that occurred on Saturday (12/8/2023), around 09.20 WIT, on Jalan Gunung, Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency.
Head of Papua Police Public Relations, Kombes Pol. Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.H., S.I.K., M.Kom., in his statement said that the crime of serious maltreatment was allegedly committed by members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in the Dekai area.
“At the time of the incident, the victim, Jefri Limbong Allo, a local who worked as a gallon of water delivery man, was physically abused by the perpetrators with machetes and home-made firearms. The perpetrator threatened the victim with an improvised firearm while making serious threats, but the victim did not offer any resistance,” he said.
As a result of the assault the victim suffered a serious injury to the right side of the neck and an injury to his right hand. The local community immediately reported the incident to the Brimob Safe Nusa Post, Pos Kali Made by Dekai. Members of Mobile Brigade Aman Nusa responded to the report by contacting the Yahukimo Police guard post.
The police who came immediately took the victim to the hospital for medical treatment. After that, joint members of the Yahukimo Police and the Cartenz Peace Task Force conducted a search for the perpetrators who were suspected of being in the area around the TKP.
The Yahukimo Police are currently processing the crime scene and conducting an intensive investigation to uncover the perpetrators of the abuse.
“Investigations are being carried out intensively to thoroughly investigate this incident,” he said.
The victim is currently undergoing medical treatment at the Dekai Hospital and is in a conscious and stable condition.
“We invite all parties to jointly maintain conduciveness and support law enforcement efforts by officials in the local area,” concluded Kombes Benny.
