Police Investigate Case of Burning of Excavator by OTK in Kep. Yapen-Serui

Jayapura – The Yapen Islands Police are currently investigating the case of burning excavator heavy equipment carried out by an unknown person (OTK) in Woda Village, Raimbawi District, Yapen Islands Regency, Monday (29/05) at around 02.00 wit.

Head of Public Relations of the Papua Regional Police Kombes Pol. Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, S.H., S.I.K., M.Kom., when confirmed, confirmed the incident, Tuesday (30/05) afternoon.

The Head of Public Relations said that the incident started with a witness who reported that a heavy excavator type equipment caught fire on the road leading to Woda Village, Raimbawi District, which was allegedly set on fire by OTK.

“Receiving the report, the East Yapen Police led by Ipda Ibar Salurapa immediately moved quickly to the scene of the burning of the excavator,” said the Head of Public Relations.

Once at the TKP, personnel found 1 medium-sized Morning Star flag flying on a piece of wood and 3 (three) pieces of yellow folio paper, each with an inscription.

Meanwhile, the Yapen Islands Police Chief AKBP Herzoni Saragih, S.I.K., M.H said that currently the Yapen Islands Police Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating the case and increasing patrols around Serui City.

“This case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Yapen Islands Police and will increase patrol activities around the city of Serui,” said AKBP Herzoni.

In conclusion, the Police Chief appealed if there were suspicious people to immediately provide information to the Yapen Islands Police to prevent unwanted things.
