Ali Kabiay: Burning the House of a Religious Figure in Puncak-Ilaga District Violates God’s Law.

Jayapura – In response to the burning of houses belonging to residents in the Puncak-Ilaga district by an armed criminal group (KKB) in the Puncak region, Ali Kabiay, a Papua Youth Figure, has spoken out.

As the Chairman of the Trikora Mandala Youth Council in Papua Province, he stated that, on behalf of all youth components in Papua, they were deeply disturbed by the acts of arson committed by the KKB in the Puncak district on May 21, 2023.

During a meeting in Jayapura on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, Ali Kabiay expressed that the actions of the KKB not only violated the laws of the government but also the laws of God. Besides burning the houses of Toraja ethnic residents, they also burned down the house of a religious figure from the indigenous people of Puncak-Ilaga.

“We deeply regret these acts of arson, in which Mr. Daniel and religious figure Mr. Loas Kogoya became victims. This clearly violates the laws of the government and the laws of God,” said Ali Kabiay.

Furthermore, innocent civilians have become victims of crimes committed by the KKB. This undoubtedly hampers development in Papua.

“We believe and trust that the law enforcement authorities, particularly the Damai Cartenz Task Force and the Indonesian National Armed Forces-Police, are working diligently to apprehend and prosecute the criminals in accordance with the applicable laws.”
