Jayapura – After the incident in the city of Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency which occurred some time ago, the Head of the Papua Regional Police (Polda) Inspector General Pol. Mathius D. Fahiri, SIK said that his party had started giving an appeal to the public not to carry sharp weapons (Sajam) in the city anymore.

This was conveyed by the Kapolda after presiding over the Handover ceremony for the Jayawijaya Police Chief and the Tolikara Police Chief for the 2023 Papua Regional Police which took place at the Rastra Samara Hall of the Papua Regional Police Koya Koso, Tuesday 14 March.

“With knives, machetes and arrows, we give an appeal through the media billboards, so that people in the city of Wamena and maybe also in other cities in the Papua region can leave the habit of sharp tools that can be at risk like yesterday’s incidents,” he said.

He said he did not want similar incidents to happen again, because this is a country of laws and all elements of society must obey the law. Because by carrying sharp weapons, there are laws that are violated.

“At least this warning lasts for three or four months. After that, there will only be enforcement that is still educational in nature. If they are still doing the same thing, the legal process will certainly proceed,” said the Papuan Police Chief.
