Jayapura – The Jayapura Regency Government (Pemkab) continues to encourage the increase of public awareness in maintaining environmental cleanliness through the implementation of a culture of discipline in throwing away garbage according to the schedule that has been set. This step is expected to be able to create a clean, healthy, comfortable environment, while supporting the quality of life of the community.
Jayapura Regent Yunus Wonda emphasized that hygiene management cannot only rely on local governments, but requires the active involvement of all community elements. According to him, the success of maintaining the cleanliness of the environment depends on the awareness of residents to throw away garbage at the specified time and to keep public facilities clean.
“Cleanliness is our shared responsibility. If the community is disciplined to throw away garbage according to the schedule and keep the environment clean, then Jayapura Regency will become a healthy, comfortable, and beautiful area to live in,” said Yunus Wonda in Jayapura.
In addition to inviting the public to throw away garbage at the right time, the local government also urged residents to start getting used to sorting household waste before throwing it away. This simple step is considered to facilitate the transportation process as well as support more effective and environmentally friendly waste management.
According to Yunus, sorting waste from home not only helps cleaners, but also opens up more sustainable waste management opportunities through the recycling process and reducing the volume of waste that ends up in landfills.
On the other hand, the Jayapura Regency Government also continues to improve the waste management system. The government plans to increase the operational of the garbage transport fleet and provide garbage bins at a number of strategic points so that the public has easier access to dispose of garbage in its place.
As part of the effort, the public is urged to dispose of garbage at night until early morning, which is from 19.00 WIT to 05.00 WIT, so that the transportation process by officers can be carried out more effectively and does not interfere with community activities during the day.
Through collaboration between the government and the community, the Jayapura Regency Government is optimistic that the culture of clean living can grow in the community. Discipline in managing waste is expected to become a common habit that can support the creation of Jayapura Regency as a clean, healthy, orderly, and sustainable area.
