Wamena – The Jayawijaya Regency Government (Pemkab) and PT PLN UP3 Wamena launched the Bright Jayawijaya Program through the construction and operation of an electricity network in Taelarek District, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Mountains, as an effort to provide basic services to residents in remote areas.
Jayawijaya Regent Atenius Murib stated that the program is part of the regional government’s commitment to expanding electricity access to districts that have previously lacked electricity. Initially, the electricity network will focus on serving the Taelarek District Office and Community Health Center to support government and health services to the community. Subsequently, electricity connections will be gradually expanded to residents’ homes.
According to Atenius, the availability of electricity will have a significant impact on improving the community’s quality of life, from supporting children’s nighttime learning activities to opening business opportunities that can boost the local economy. Furthermore, the availability of electricity is also a crucial foundation for the development of the education and health sectors in the region.
The Jayawijaya Regency Government plans to continue the construction of various supporting facilities, including teacher housing and health worker housing, to strengthen basic services in Taelarek District. The local government hopes that this infrastructure development will improve community welfare and accelerate equitable development in the remote areas of the Papua Highlands.
The Regent also expressed his appreciation to PLN UP3 Wamena for its support in realizing the electricity network in Taelarek District. He hopes the synergy between the local government and PLN will continue so that other areas without electricity can soon receive similar services. He also urged the community to maintain and care for the electricity facilities that have been built so that they can continue to benefit.
