Yahukimo, Papua Highlands – In an effort to maintain security stability and ensure public safety, joint personnel from the Cartenz Peace Operation 2026 Task Force and the Yahukimo Regional Police conducted a foot patrol across several strategic locations in Dekai, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Highlands, from Monday night (June 1, 2026) until the early hours of Tuesday.
The patrol aimed to prevent potential security disturbances and criminal activities while enhancing the sense of security among local residents. Officers patrolled residential areas and key roads throughout Dekai, focusing on locations considered vulnerable to public order and security threats.
The operation commenced from the Yahukimo Regional Police Headquarters and continued through several areas, including the PJPR Complex, Anggruk Street, the Anggruk Street intersection, residential areas along Jalur 3, and the vicinity of the Dekai Sector Police Office. During the patrol, officers also conducted humanistic inspections of motorcycles and four-wheeled vehicles passing through the area to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
The presence of security personnel through foot patrols reflects the government’s commitment to protecting the community and ensuring that residents can carry out their daily activities safely, particularly during nighttime hours.
Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation 2026, Inspector General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, stated that routine patrols in vulnerable areas would continue to be intensified as a preventive measure to maintain security and public order throughout Papua Highlands.
“This foot patrol represents the state’s presence within the community, providing a sense of security while preventing any potential disturbances that could disrupt public activities,” said Inspector General Faizal Ramadhani.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation 2026, Senior Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, emphasized that a persuasive and human-centered approach remains a priority in all security operations conducted by personnel on the ground.
“We continue to prioritize persuasive and humanistic measures in maintaining public security so that residents feel safe, comfortable, and able to carry out their daily activities normally,” he said.
The patrol concluded with the overall security situation in Dekai remaining safe and conducive. No significant activities related to armed criminal groups or other security threats were detected, while community activities continued to proceed normally.
