Dogiyai, Central Papua – Efforts to strengthen food security while increasing agricultural productivity continue through the distribution of seeds and fertilizers to residents in Dogiyai Regency. The assistance was provided on Thursday (May 28, 2026) in Ikebo Village, Kamuu District, as part of a community empowerment program focused on agricultural development.
The assistance was handed over to Isak Tebai, the Mee Tribal Chief of Duntek Village, who has been actively developing agricultural land to support local food needs. The program is expected to encourage the optimal use of available land while increasing local agricultural production.
On the occasion, Isak Tebai expressed his appreciation for the government’s attention to communities in the interior regions of Papua, particularly its support for the agricultural sector, which serves as a primary source of livelihood for many residents.
According to him, the seeds and fertilizers provided will greatly assist in managing agricultural land that is currently being prepared for the cultivation of various horticultural crops and vegetables. He is optimistic that the support will help increase harvest yields while strengthening food availability for local communities.
“We warmly welcome this assistance because it greatly supports the agricultural activities we are developing. We hope that agricultural production will continue to improve and provide greater benefits for the wider community,” said Isak Tebai.
In addition to expressing his gratitude, Isak also encouraged community members to maintain unity, security, and public order within their respective neighborhoods. He emphasized that a stable and peaceful environment is essential for supporting development efforts and improving the welfare of the people of Dogiyai Regency.
The assistance package included various types of seeds, such as corn, chili peppers, cabbage, carrots, broccoli, mustard greens, spinach, celery, long beans, water spinach, and lettuce. Residents also received fertilizers and other agricultural support materials to assist cultivation activities through to the harvest stage.
Through this program, local communities are expected to become increasingly motivated to develop the agricultural sector in a sustainable manner, thereby strengthening regional food security, increasing household incomes, and supporting economic development in Dogiyai Regency.
