MIMIKA – Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG) Mimika Region has urged the public to increase vigilance over potential weather changes that may occur at any time, even though the forecast for Tuesday (3/3/2026) indicates that most areas of Mimika Regency will experience cloudy conditions.
In the morning, weather conditions at several locations, such as Jalan Hasanudin toward Timika City and Jalan Nawaripi, were observed to be clear. However, BMKG emphasized that weather conditions in Mimika tend to be dynamic and can change rapidly. Based on forecast data, a total of 18 districts are expected to experience cloudy weather, including Mimika Baru, Mimika Barat, Mimika Timur Jauh, Wania, Agimuga, Jita, Jila, Mimika Timur, Mimika Tengah, Kuala Kencana, Tembagapura, Kwamki Narama, Mimika Barat Jauh, Mimika Barat Tengah, Iwaka, Hoya, Amar, and Alama.
BMKG advised residents not to be complacent and to remain prepared for possible extreme weather conditions that could lead to water pooling, flooding, or disruptions to daily activities. The public is also encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and regularly monitor official updates through BMKG communication channels, including BMKG Mozes Kilangin Mimika.
Early vigilance is essential to minimize potential weather-related risks and to ensure that community activities continue safely and smoothly.
