Dekai — The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force 2026 has announced the latest developments in the handling of a murder and serious assault case that occurred in Dekai City, Yahukimo Regency. Two men identified by the initials O.K. and I.K., who were secured on January 2, 2026, have officially been named suspects following a comprehensive investigation and prosecution process conducted by the Law Enforcement Unit of the Cartenz Peace Operation.
Both suspects were apprehended on Jalan Sosial, Dekai. Based on investigators’ findings, they are suspected of having links to an armed criminal network operating in Yahukimo Regency.
Investigators revealed that suspect O.K. is allegedly involved in three separate violent incidents throughout 2025. These include a serious assault against a migrant civilian named Nurdin on November 1, 2025, on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman; the killing of Yohanes Entamoni on August 6, 2025, at the Kali WO Housing Complex; and the murder of Ramli M. on December 25, 2025, on Jalan Sosial Kali Bonto, Dekai District.
Meanwhile, suspect I.K. is alleged to have been directly involved in the murder of Ramli M. The victim suffered fatal slash wounds to the neck, injuries to the back, and cuts to the hands, which resulted in death at the crime scene.
During the investigation process, authorities also secured several pieces of evidence, including bladed weapons and other items believed to be directly connected to the criminal acts. Investigators emphasized that all legal proceedings are being carried out in accordance with applicable criminal law and procedure, while upholding the presumption of innocence and ensuring the protection of the suspects’ legal rights. Further investigations and case development are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals suspected of involvement.
The Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation 2026, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Faizal Ramadhani, S.Sos., S.I.K., M.H., stated that the successful disclosure of the case reflects the authorities’ strong commitment to protecting civilians and enforcing the rule of law in Papua.
“Any act of violence against civilians constitutes a serious criminal offense and will not be tolerated. We are committed to resolving this case firmly, proportionately, and in strict accordance with the law,” Brig. Gen. Faizal said.
Separately, the Deputy Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation, Senior Commissioner of Police Adarma Sinaga, S.I.K., M.Hum., emphasized that strong coordination and synergy among security units remain essential in addressing violence in vulnerable areas.
“We ensure that every report from the public is followed up swiftly and professionally. Law enforcement efforts are not only aimed at identifying perpetrators, but also at ensuring that the community feels safe and protected in their daily activities,” he stated.
The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force affirmed that it will continue to intensify law enforcement measures and security operations to maintain stability and safeguard the public, particularly in Yahukimo Regency.
