Jayapura, the capital of Papua Province, boasts a new landmark that fills its people with pride: the Red Bridge of Youtefa Bay. Inaugurated in 2019 by President Joko Widodo, the Youtefa Red Bridge spans 732 meters over the waters of Youtefa Bay. It connects Jayapura City to Muara Tami District and provides faster access to the Indonesia–Papua New Guinea border. Before the bridge was built, traveling to Skouw and the border area required a longer journey through winding roads. Now, with the bridge in place, travel has become significantly shorter and more efficient, saving both time and transportation costs.
Beyond its transportation benefits, the Youtefa Red Bridge also drives local economic growth. Improved accessibility has boosted the trade, tourism, and fishing sectors in the Youtefa Bay area.
