Jayapura – In order to ensure security and order ahead of the 2025 Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Papua Regional Police have increased dialogic patrols around Jayapura City. This activity is part of the 2024 Cartenz Candle Operation which has entered its third day, Monday (12/23/2024).
The patrol was led by AKP Joko Prayogo, S.Sos as Padal UKL 3, accompanied by the Head of the Patrol and Regulation Sub-task Force, AKP Kasrun, S.H, and the Head of the Papua Police Propam Division, Iptu Yatin, S.Sos.
During this patrol, police personnel visited a number of places of worship to check and ensure the readiness of the churches to welcome the Christmas celebrations. AKP Joko Prayogo explained that the dialogic patrol activities were carried out to provide a sense of security and comfort for Christians who would carry out worship.
“This activity is carried out to provide a sense of security and comfort for Christians in carrying out their worship. In addition, this patrol also aims to maintain security and order in Jayapura City,” said AKP Joko.
Not only that, personnel who are members of the Cartenz Candle Operation also gave an appeal to church congregations regarding the importance of maintaining security together.
“It is hoped that through this activity, conducive conditions will be created and provide a sense of security and comfort to the community who are worshiping, while maintaining security during the Nataru celebration period,” he added.
The 2024 Cartenz Candle Operation is a preventive measure by the Papua Police to create a safe and peaceful atmosphere during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. This activity received appreciation from the community who felt calmer in carrying out activities ahead of the big religious day.
