Timika, 14 August 2024 – The body of Raimon Gustam Kailimang, a victim of shooting by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Intan Jaya, arrived in Timika, Papua, on Wednesday morning, 14 August 2024, at 09.45 WIT. The victim’s body was flown from Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, after being shot by KKB Intan Jaya resulted in the victim losing his life.
The attack occurred on Tuesday, August 13 2024, at around 14.55 WIT, when gunshots were heard from the direction of Wandoga Village after Pasasgat personnel flew a drone to monitor the area. From drone monitoring, a victim could be seen lying in the area below the Wabu river. The victim, identified as Raimon Gustam Kailimang, a TJP (Tigi Jaya Permai) project worker and from the Makassar tribe, was found to have serious injuries. These injuries included a shot to the head that penetrated from the left ear to the right ear, a shot to the right arm, and a shot to the right chest, all of which resulted in the victim dying at the scene.
On Wednesday, August 14 2024, the victim’s body arrived in Timika, Papua, precisely at UPBU Mozes Kilangin Airport, at 09.45 WIT. The arrival of the body was welcomed by relatives and family who then took care of the process of replacing the coffin at Mimika Regional Hospital.
Police Commissioner. Dr. Bayu Suseno, Head of the Cartenz 2024 Peace Ops Public Relations Task Force, confirmed the arrival of the body.
“The victim’s body arrived today Wednesday 14 August 2024, at 09.45 WIT at UPBU Mozes Kilangin Timika Airport and was welcomed by his relatives. Then, the body was taken to Mimika Regional Hospital for the coffin to be replaced. After that, the body will be flown to his hometown in Manado with using the Batik Air plane at 14.00 WIT,” he said.
Police Commissioner. Dr. Bayu Suseno also expressed his condolences for the death of Raimon Gustam Kailimang.
“We from the Cartenz-2024 Peace Ops Task Force are deeply saddened by the death of Raimon Gustam Kailimang who was a victim of the KKB shooting in Intan Jaya. We hope that the families left behind can be given fortitude in facing this disaster. We also continue to strive to create a conducive security situation in Papua, so that similar incidents do not happen again,” concluded Police Commissioner. Dr. Bayu Suseno.
